Alec Baldwin Joke

Why didn't Alec move to England like he said he would? Well, there's all that Hoof and Mouth disease going around, and as often and Alec puts his hoof in his mouth...

Alec Baldwin claims he needed a court order to take his daughter, Ireland, to the premiere of his film "The Cat in the Hat" in 2003. He said he had to get another one to take her to the Oscars the next year when he was nominated for best supporting actor.

And when his ex-wife, Kim Basinger, wrote a seemingly innocuous dedication to the child on the label of a Luna nutrition bar, well, that made it into the court files, too, with Baldwin claiming Basinger's words were intended to impose "her belief system" on their daughter and cut him out of her "therapeutic involvement."

Basinger has filed declarations as well, depicting Baldwin as a monstrous and tyrannical dad given to outbursts that have left Ireland frightened, embarrassed and in tears.

At six years and counting, the epic legal battle over Ireland has generated countless court files, affidavits and motions. While Baldwin's and Basinger's careers have gone up and down during that time, their litigious zeal has remained constant.

At the center of this seemingly intractable war is an 11-year-old girl whose life has been parsed by court order, her every step documented in legal pleadings, from the number of days of summer 2004 she spent with her father (35) to the strep throat she was suffering on March 29, 2006.

Ireland is no stranger to the headlines, but nothing has compared to the outcry after her father's furious voice mail rant landed on the Internet last week. In it, Baldwin called his daughter a "rude, thoughtless little pig."

Baldwin will apologize publicly this morning to his daughter during an emotional interview taped Wednesday for "The View." During the interview, Baldwin told the show's hosts that he wanted to quit "30 Rock" so that the sitcom and the hundreds who worked on it wouldn't "be hurt by the situation." He also said: "If I never acted again, I couldn't care less."

He has a new calling, he told them, focusing on "parental alienation" and legislating fathers' rights. He's also working on a book that deals with the trauma caused by divorce.

The couple have joint custody of Ireland, but court documents show Baldwin constantly fighting for his share of time with the youngster.

Baldwin and Basinger have engaged in bruising exchanges in court. Basinger, 53, depicts Baldwin, 49, as having a temper that terrifies their daughter. Baldwin says Basinger is a manipulative agoraphobe who has turned Ireland against him and has restricted his access to her.

They separated in 2000, she filed for divorce the next year, and they subsequently were awarded joint custody of Ireland.

Some of Baldwin's longtime Hollywood friends deplore what he said on the tape but stress that it sprang from his sense of being alienated from his daughter -- whether real or imagined.

No matter how angry he is, they say, Baldwin stepped over the line when he verbally attacked his child. They say apologies won't suffice.

"If he just leaves it as it is, I think it's not good for him," said a studio insider who knows both actors. "If you have that kind of consistent anger, and the public knows about it, you need to deal with it. You've got to talk to somebody and let the people know. I think what he did was wrong, and it was wrong to blame it on Kim."

But, this insider said: "I know how much he loves his daughter and he would never physically hurt her."

Kip Addotta's feelings

Alec Baldwin's Cell Phone tirade to his daughter was scary!

However, as a father, I must say that only a daughter and an estranged wife will bring a father to loosing it all together!

When I look back on mistakes I have made, I see that I was wrong to loose my temper With my children. Whenever I loose my temper I am wrong!

But, I do identify with the feeling of rage that a man can have when he has lost control of his family. So I will take away one point, one point only, for his behavior.

This is his estranged wife, Kim Basinger, pulling the strings and throwing the low blows. She is sabotaging the ties between a father and his daughter. Her behavior is despicable. Any woman that uses her child to joust with a man is a low life! But Alec played right into her trap!

And now we are obsessing over 'his' behavior. I think we should take a close look at Kim Basinger's behavior! She is the one who is making it impossible for Alec Baldwin to spend time with his daughter, during pre-arranged meetings thst were set up so that a busy actore could stay in touch with his little girl,

Alec Baldwin Biography

Alexander Rae Baldwin III (born April 3, 1958) is an Oscar-nominated American actor. Alec Baldwin is the eldest and most well-known of the "Baldwin brothers".

Early life Baldwin was born in Massapequa, Long Island, New York, to Catholic parents Alexander Rae Baldwin II, a high school history teacher, drama club director and football coach, and Carol Newcomb Martineau. Alec Baldwin's brothers are Daniel, Stephen and William Baldwin, all of whom are actors; Alec Baldwin also has two sisters, Jane and Elizabeth. All attended Alfred G. Berner High School, in Nassau County. Alexander (Class of 1976) and Daniel (Class of 1979) played football there under Coach Bob Reifsnyder, a former All-American player for Navy who is in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Baldwin is frequently noted as being Irish American, though Alec Baldwin's background includes English and Irish ancestry on Alec Baldwin's father's side, and distant French and Canadian ancestry on Alec Baldwin's mother's. Alec Baldwin's maternal grandmother was born in Nova Scotia and Alec Baldwin's Irish ancestry comes from Alec Baldwin's paternal great-grandmother, Helen Irene McNamara.

When Baldwin was young, Alec Baldwin worked as a busboy at the famous New York City disco Studio 54. Baldwin attended George Washington University (1976-1979) but transferred to New York University to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute under Elaine Aiken and Geoffrey Horne. Baldwin returned to NYU in 1994 and graduated with a BFA that year.

Alec Baldwin Film and television career

In the fall of 1983, Alec Baldwin starred in the short lived series Cutter to Houston. Alec Baldwin shot to stardom co-starring on Knots Landing, and spent most of the 1980s appearing in television series, before turning to film in 1986, making Alec Baldwin's film debut with a minor role in She's Having a Baby. In 1987, Alec Baldwin had a role in Beetlejuice and, in 1988, Working Girl, both of which were box office successes and raised Alec Baldwin's profile.

After appearing in several other supporting roles, Baldwin starred as lead character Jack Ryan in The Hunt for Red October, which grossed over $100m after its release in March of 1990. However, Alec Baldwin turned down reprising the Jack Ryan role in subsequent Tom Clancy movies. Instead, Harrison Ford took over the Jack Ryan character for Baldwin in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger.

Baldwin subsequently had several notable roles in early 1990s films. Alec Baldwin's role in the beginning of Glengarry Glen Ross is cosidered by many to be the best performance of a great ensemble cast that included Jack Lemmon and Al Pacino. In 1991 Alec Baldwin met Alec Baldwin's future wife Kim Basinger on the set of the critically panned, The Marrying Man. Alec Baldwin appeared opposite Basinger again in The Getaway, a 1994 remake of the 1972 film of the same name.

Baldwin's late 1990s roles varied in terms of critical and box office reception, and included several thrillers, such as The Edge, The Juror (opposite Demi Moore) and Heaven's Prisoners. Alec Baldwin has since appeared mostly in supporting roles, including Alec Baldwin's Academy Award nominated turn in 2003's The Cooler.

He is also a voice actor, working in the films Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends.

Baldwin has hosted Saturday Night Live twelve times, and reportedly is one of only two people (the other being Christopher Walken) who have standing invitations to host the show whenever they want. Baldwin's February 12, 1994 appearance on the show produced one of the most infamous sketches in the history of the show when Alec Baldwin played a scoutmaster who makes sexual advances toward Adam Sandler's Canteen Boy character.

He has been nominated for an Emmy Award five times (see below) but has yet to have won any:

1996: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Special, for Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire
2001: Outstanding Miniseries, for Nuremberg (as producer)
2002: Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Special, for Path to war
2005: Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, for Will & Grace
2006: Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, for Will & Grace
He wrote an episode of Law & Order entitled Tabloid, which aired in 1998.

Baldwin stars in the ensemble drama-comedy Running with Scissors, which is scheduled to be released in September 2006. Alec Baldwin also stars in the NBC sitcom 30 Rock alongside Tina Fey; the show is scheduled to debut in the fall of 2006.

In 2001, Baldwin directed and starred in an all-star version of The Devil and Daniel Webster with Anthony Hopkins, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Dan Aykroyd. However, as of October, 2006, this film has yet to be released. The film became an asset of a federal bank fraud trial in 2003, where financial investor Jed Barron, of Las Vegas, was convicted of bank fraud while financing the movie. The film's producer, David Glasser was also under investigation. The film was reported to have been sold by the bank to a DVD distributor.

Alec Baldwin Stage career

Baldwin made Alec Baldwin's Broadway debut, in 1986, in the role of Dennis, in a revival of Joe Orton's Loot alongside theatre veterans Zoe Wanamaker, Zeljko Ivanek, Joseph Maher and Charles Keating. This production closed after three months.

His other Broadway credits include Caryl Churchill's Serious money with Kate Nelligan and a highly acclaimed revival of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire which garnered Alec Baldwin a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor. This production also featured Jessica Lange, Amy Madigan, Timothy Carhart, James Gandolfini, and Aida Turturro. Baldwin would receive an Emmy Award nomination for the television version of the production, in which both Alec Baldwin and Jessica Lange reprise their roles. That version featured John Goodman and Diane Lane.

In 2004, Baldwin starred in a revival of the play Twentieth Century with Anne Heche.

On June 9, 2005, Alec Baldwin appeared in a concert version of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific at Carnegie Hall. Alec Baldwin starred as Luther Billis, alongside Reba McEntire as Nellie and Brian Stokes Mitchell as Emile. The production was taped and telecast by PBS on April 26, 2006.

In 2006, Baldwin made theatre news in Roundabout Theatre Company's Off-Broadway revival of Joe Orton's Entertaining Mr. Sloane. Alec Baldwin locked horns with co-star Jan Maxwell who quit the show early because of (according to her) Baldwin's behavior. (Maxwell is reported, however, to be universally despised among veterans of the New York stage.)

Alec Baldwin Criticism

He was criticized by Jack Valenti, Rush Limbaugh, and Brit Hume for Alec Baldwin's appearance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien on December 11, 1998, eight days before President Bill Clinton was impeached. In an outburst that Baldwin later referred to as a "parody", Alec Baldwin said that "if we were in another country... we would stone Henry Hyde to death and we would go to their homes and kill their wives and their children. We would kill their families". Baldwin later apologized to Hyde for Alec Baldwin's remarks and NBC has promised never to re-air the show.

In 2000, an interview with Basinger appeared in the German magazine Focus, in which the actress allegedly said that Baldwin promised to leave the United States if George W. Bush beat Al Gore for the presidency. This statement provoked a great deal of controversy for both Baldwin and Basinger. Alec Baldwin was chastised by Florida governor Jeb Bush and had to temporarily shut down Alec Baldwin's website due to what Alec Baldwin described as hundreds of "hideous and graphic" writings from "political extremists whose only goal is to harass and disrupt". Baldwin claimed Alec Baldwin never heard of Focus and that Basinger was never interviewed, although subsequently Alec Baldwin did admit the interview took place. Alec Baldwin has stated that Alec Baldwin never threatened to leave the United States and believed Alec Baldwin might be confused with director Robert Altman, who did indeed make a vow to leave the United States if Bush was reelected. As Snopes.com has shown, no actual quote has ever been published showing that Baldwin in fact made the controversial promise.

Baldwin, a liberal Democrat, has always had an active interest in politics and is frequently rumored to be a candidate for public office. Alec Baldwin recently revealed in a British magazine interview that Alec Baldwin plans to leave acting in a few years to pursue a career in politics. Alec Baldwin has recently called Vice President Dick Cheney a terrorist, and claimed that "he terrorizes our enemies abroad and innocent citizens here at home indiscriminately.". Alec Baldwin later recanted this statement, saying that Cheney was not a terrorist but rather a thieving oil whore and a murderer of the U.S. Constitution". Baldwin has continued to level strong criticisms at the Bush Administration on Alec Baldwin's blog labeling President Bush a "trust fund puppet" and Vice President Cheney a "constitution hating sociopath" and a "hate-filled maniac". Baldwin and commentator Bill O'Reilly have been in a number of conflicts, yet despite their political differences, Baldwin stated on Alec Baldwin's blog after an interview with O'Reilly, that Alec Baldwin "was aggressive, but was a gentleman throughout", and also called O'Reilly a "talented broadcaster." Baldwin, however, also referred to O'Reilly's employer, Fox News Channel, in the same blog post as "Roger Ailes' Luftwaffe/Looney Bin news operation".

On March 26, 2006, Baldwin guest-hosted Brian Whitman's talk show on WABC radio in New York. During the show, conservative talk show hosts Sean Hannity and Mark Levin called the show and were heard on air. Both Hannity and Levin confronted Baldwin about Alec Baldwin's previous comments about Vice-President Cheney and Rep. Hyde. During the conversation, Hannity accused Baldwin of not appearing on Alec Baldwin's show as agreed, and Baldwin replied that Alec Baldwin would never do Sean's show as Alec Baldwin was a partisan hack unlike O'Reilly. After Hannity accused Alec Baldwin of attacking the president in a time of war (which Sean also did with Clinton and Kosovo) and Levin lobbed personal attacks at him, Baldwin attempted to move on to the next caller, but Hannity told Alec Baldwin "you don't tell the truth" and Baldwin responded by stating that Hannity was "a no-talent hack." The conversation turned into a series of verbal taunts between Hannity/Levin and Baldwin. According to the actor, Whitman made no attempt to assist Baldwin or curtail the call, so Baldwin walked out of the studio. On March 28, according to Baldwin, WABC President and General Manager Tim McCarthy telephoned Alec Baldwin to "apologize for Sean's attacks".

Baldwin serves on the board of People for the American Way.

Alec Baldwin Tumultuous relationship with Kim Basinger

Alec Baldwin's marriage to Kim Basinger came to end in 2000, when they officially separated. A year later, Basinger filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court. The ensuing divorce proceedings and custody battle have been a source of fodder for tabloid reporters, who have republished allegations by Basinger that she was physically and emotionally abused during the course of their marriage, and counter-claims by Baldwin's attorneys denying Basinger's charges and stating that Basinger had any number of untreated mental problems, including alcoholism. In their 2004 trial, he was awarded ongoing custody of his daughter Ireland and joint legal custody of her as well. The judge presiding over the case had issued a gag order, requiring neither Basinger or Baldwin to comment publicly about the case in order to ensure the health and well being of their young child.

As of May 4, 2007 a court will be considering whether Baldwin should be allowed continued visitation with his daughter in light of an expletive-strewn, threatening phone message he left to his 11-year-old daughter, Ireland.

On the recording, Baldwin can be heard berating his young daughter, "You are a rude, thoughtless little pig." "You don't have the brains or the decency as a human being," he says, apparently upset that she did not answer her phone for a planned call. He further says, "I don't give a damn that you're 12 years old, or 11 years old, or that you're a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn't care about what you do as far as I'm concerned. You have humiliated me for the last time with this phone."

Baldwin responded to the release of the recording by saying "Although I have been told by numerous people not to worry too much, as all parents lose their patience with their kids, I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child," he wrote. "I'm sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child. I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand. (Although I hope you never do.) I am sorry for what happened. But I am equally sorry that a court order was violated, which had deliberately been put under seal in this case."

Since his break up with Basinger, he has dated Kristin Davis, Ally Sheedy, and attorney Nicole Seidel.

Since Alec Baldwin's break up with Basinger, Alec Baldwin has dated Janine Turner, Kristin Davis, Ally Sheedy, and attorney Nicole Seidel.
